About This Spot

Stepping into Boro Bean feels like settling into a well-loved nook in the heart of Hopewell, where the pace slows down just enough to savor the moment. This cozy coffee shop offers a comforting blend of warmth and quiet vibrancy, the kind of place where locals nod hello and the baristas know your name — or take the time to learn it. Whether you’re sliding into a sunlit corner or waiting by the counter, the atmosphere invites you to pause and enjoy the simple pleasure of good company and thoughtfully prepared food and drink.

The menu unfolds like a personal invitation to linger, with familiar breakfast favorites and unexpected twists woven into each bite. From the satisfying texture of wood-fired bagels topped with chive cream cheese to the seasonal charm of an apple butter latte, there’s a sense of care in every detail. The fresh fruit and homemade breads feel like an extension of a kitchen table shared among friends. And when the lunch crowd arrives, comforting sandwiches and hearty soups keep the rhythm mellow yet fulfilling.

Boro Bean also holds a quiet respect for its community, welcoming first responders with a free cup of coffee and fostering connections through local artwork displayed on its walls. These touches don’t shout; they simply remind you that this is a place built with thoughtfulness and kindness. It’s easy to see why many consider it a neighborhood staple — a spot not just for a caffeine boost, but for gentle moments of connection and nourishment in a small-town setting.

This café has become my favorite spot for coffee. The team is always welcoming and genuinely cares about making sure you get exactly what you like. I really admire that they offer free coffee to first responders—it shows how thoughtful they are. Their lunch options are delicious too, especially the turkey sandwich, which I order almost every time. Always a great experience here!

My go to place for coffee. Very friendly staff, and they take the time to get to know what you want. They also give free coffee to first responders. Which is very nice of them. Their lunches are very yummy. I always get the turkey.

Beautiful little coffee shop in a nice small town. Stopped in for a small breakfast bite and it did not disappoint. Their baked goods are to die for. Amazing pumpkin banana bread!!! It was moist and flavorful. The bagel was fantastic and lived up the the NJ bagel hype! I got one of their fall latte specials, apple butter and it was so good, all the autumn goodness you could want in every sip. The staff were polite and amazing. Definitely worth the stop.

Really nice local brunch spot. The food was delicious and they feature local artists inside for their artwork. The coffee was really good, the breakfast tacos were delicious and the sandwich was yummy! The staff was also very friendly. The cookies were alright. The matcha latte was good, not overly sweet.

We stopped here as we are visiting from England and we had such a lovely breakfast! Delicious bagels and delicious coffee to go with it too. I had a bagel with sausage, egg and cheese and an iced latte with hazelnut syrup. The everything bagel was so so good! Not pictured but we also ordered the waffles, salmon lax bagel and black bean burrito and they all looked very good too. Would really recommend!

You have got to stop in and see owners, Johnny and Ellen Abernathy. This is a small town, everyone knows everyone and they have some of the most delicious food you might have ever had. Their special wood fired bagels aren’t available every day, but when they post that they are you need to run down and get them. They offer Wi-Fi and front porch and yard seating. Open early for a great latte. Their paninis are scrumptious. Definitely not a place to miss.

A perfect day off that I looking for. A light and healthy brunch with a truly excellent cup of coffee at Boro Bean in Hopewell. The atmosphere here is so peaceful and exactly what I needed. The best part? I discovered they have their own little "public library" right inside the store! I found this fantastic Bess Crawford mystery, Bitter Truth by Charles Todd, to dive into.
